Amanda Ross

Event in which you compete: Eventing.

Hometown: Tuerong, Mornington Peninsula.

Number of years riding: all my life!

Career accomplishments to date: Sydney 2000 Olympics reserve 1998 & 2010 World Equestrian Games FEI dressage competitor.

How you got started in your event: Through pony club.

Favourite Ariat product (by name): Volant boots.

Proudest career moment: Competing at the Olympics.

Tell us about your first horse: A grey 11.3h welsh pony, Tinkara Minuette. Rather disobedient, but probably fairly normal grey pony behaviour!

You ride because: I love the lifestyle, the competitive edge, the relationship with horses.

If you werent a professional rider, you would be a: Sports commentator, elite obstacle racer & minion to my dogs.

Favourite mentor or idol growing up: Mark Todd, Ginny Leng & Mary King.

Favourite place to travel: I'd like to do Machu Pichu. Rome was amazing. Anywhere with a great running track & a view!

Favourite way to unwind outside the barn: A smoothie & coffee from my favorite raw food store, with my dogs, down the beach in Mornington, near home.

Good luck charm: Patting my staffy Ringo's head before I compete... 'wish me luck Ringo!'
